Little Girl with a Dream, to Woman with a Vision

I am the product of having been raised by a strong woman. My mom is a believer in following your dreams and passions and always encouraged me and expressed that I can do anything I wanted to do. So, at an early age, this belief became instilled in me.

I am an author and entrepreneur, and I’m also just a girl who had a dream that became a plan—a plan that included hard work, perseverance, and determination. When I was 14, I had a goal of growing up and moving to New York City, working in advertising, and creating a Super Bowl commercial. Although that experience did not occur, I always dreamed big. But my path had a very different plan.

When I went to my college orientation, we sat in a circle, and they asked us to give one word that described ourselves. I said “determined.” When I look back now, I realize how determination played an essential role in getting me where I am today. It has nothing to do with financial success, but everything to do with following my heart and the things I’m passionate about in life—what I define as my purpose.

How Writing Impacted my Life and the Lives of Others

I’ve always had a passion for writing, which began during my childhood. When I was in elementary school, my teacher asked the class to write lyrics to the music of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” the all-American song well known in baseball. My lyrics were chosen, and my class sang the song at our local news station. My talents developed at a young age. When I became a teen, I embraced music and poetry. I was always inspired by musical lyrics and loved the style of rhyming or the poetic meanings of the verses in the songs. I would keep journals of poetry—some, I still have today. I expressed many of my emotions through writing, and I continued to write as a hobby throughout my 20s.

In my 30s, I strove to take my writing to a new level. My next step was writing a book, and I decided it would be a children’s book; then came my book for businesswomen. I have always had a passion for writing and helping others, and my books have provided the opportunity for me to do both.

Whether it be through blogs, magazines, or books, the goal of my writing is to share an inspirational, encouraging, and empowering message. I use my words and books to have a positive impact. They are a tool to affect at least one person positively. Whether I inspire one person to follow their writing passions, or to help them acknowledge that they are capable of accomplishing their goals, both are gratifying for me and are the reasons why I write.

We are fortunate to live in a time where you can reach a vast audience at the touch of a button. I was simply a young girl, doodling in my journals…and now I’m a published author!

I always thought I had a path; however, my life didn’t go the way I planned, but that was OK. The course of events in my life brought me to where I am today, allowing me to learn life lessons through various personal and professional experiences and avenues.

I don’t think I ever imagined doing what I am doing today, but I’m joyful at how things flourished. I am enjoying the journey, learning each day, balancing all facets, and trying to inspire others to know that they can achieve, as well.
