Choose Ease and Grace

My clients have been asking me, “What is happening energetically as a result of the COVID-19 virus?” After meditating, some reflection, and listening for guidance, I have a few thoughts to share with you:

1. We are coming together as a global collective.
There has always been something that makes us different from one another—now there is this virus, which doesn’t discriminate when it comes to who it infects. Instead of thinking about how scary and awful that is, think about the great scientific minds that are coming together to create a vaccine or find medicine to combat the severity of the illness. Think about your community and all it is doing to help the people within it. Then bring it in closer. How are you making an impact? Possibly you are doing so by taking care of the elders in your family, homeschooling your children, or cooking nutritious meals for loved ones. Celebrate your efforts, no matter how big or small.

2. We are finding new and creative ways to connect.
My women friends are hosting group cocktail hours on Zoom, and my book club is meeting over FaceTime. We are also being offered concerts online where everyone is on video chat. Not to mention, authors have volunteered to read our children books. Overall, people are showing up online sharing their gifts: dancing, singing, art, music, and more. I mean, John Legend was playing piano for me and all of us in his bathrobe. What’s not to love about that?

3. We are being asked by the Universe what is valuable to us.
If some invisible threat is out there, whom do you protect? And how? If each of our homes is now our sacred space, who is in it with you? A pet, children, partner, a spouse? How are you expressing love to them? I am hugging my children daily and taking a moment to hold my husband’s hand. We are being asked how we want to spend time with those we love. Take a deep breath and think about that. If your loved ones are far away, are you making a point to connect with them daily? Humans need connection; they need love. If you’ve been struggling with some relationships, this may be a time to heal and repair.

4. We are being given the gift of time.
I laughed out loud when I saw on social media, “It feels a lot like Mother Earth is making us all go sit in the corner for a time-out,” but I believe we need it. Most of us have all been running so fast and in so many different directions, the stress of it is affecting our health. I have projects I would love to do but haven’t touched in years. I am now revisiting them, and it feels like saying hello to old friends. Our creative side has been pushed aside by our constant busy-ness; now it’s time to return to ourselves.

5. Review your self-care practices.
What are you doing to take care of your mental health? Most of us are experiencing anxiety, sometimes fear; some feel paralyzed about what to do. Shift back into yourself. I am taking it day by day. Exercise is helping me walk off my anxiety. Meditation or deep breathing drops me out of the fear space. When I feel paralyzed or lack motivation, sometimes I give in to that and nap. It’s OK to give yourself a break. My sister said something that stuck: “This is a moment in time when we all need to move with ease and grace.” Drop out of judgment. Most of us are doing the best we can for today.

6. We are birthing a new consciousness.
If we all stop, pause, and breathe, what is really going on here? Turn inward instead of out to answer that question. I call it sinking in deep, dropping this sense of divine knowing deep into my belly. What are the first thoughts that come to mind? For me, I see new openings, more spaciousness, and new thoughts and structures that will come out of this collective pause and deep thinking. This is how I maintain my hope and faith that we will get through this unique space in time together.

I am sending love and healing out to the world daily. May we all move through this with ease and grace.

Choose love,
Peg
