A Poem for Grieving

Just A Minute Ago

Just a minute ago
I left you at the farm…again

Just a minute ago the call came
to say you were dying

Just a minute ago
I said goodbye to you on the phone

Just a minute ago
I buried you in Vermont…next to a friend

Just a minute ago…Wait
It’s been over a year now

Just a minute ago
You were a baby

Just a minute ago
You were about to turn 7

Just a minute ago
We were together

Just a minute ago
You left me…suddenly

Maybe it will be a minute and I will be with you again

Just a minute, it will be time

thanks for sharing this..it is always hard to capture time and loss and the ongoing moment that can fill our lives with the grief and reminder of how quickly it all shifts..The poem reminds me of this moment and this life which is also filled with what that all held for me in time and continues to in space…Nanda

      Dear Lars J,
Thank you for your comment and also for reading my poem. Witnessing and being witnessed in our suffering helps us all continue on. That is one reason Women for One is so helpful to all. A privilege to have work published and seen.
      Blessings
      Navya
