How a 24-Year-Old Single Lady Began Empowering Married Women

Right from childhood, I’ve motivated my mates and elder ones via my advice. I continued to do so for fun until I was 23 years old. Deep within me, I wanted to openly let my potentials be visualized to the world, but I lacked the courage to take action publicly. I noticed the confidence my loved ones had in me, especially those I’ve inspired at my early age. Hence, they encouraged me to transform my potentialities to real empowerment so that others could also benefit.

I made my first move and suddenly quit because of two challenges that really decelerated my self-esteem. I thought at first that as a single lady, I had nothing to offer to married women—because no married woman would even believe the advice of a girl who lacked experience. Secondly, my spiritual level was quite low and I couldn’t determine how to boost the spirituality of the women around me. I felt challenged by these factors. However, I kept calm, thinking about how to manage the situation or whether to forget inspiring women.

But as soon as I remembered my God-fearing girlfriend, my heart calmed down with the feeling that I’d found a way to tackle the spirituality issue. What was on my mind? I would partner with her so that I could tackle the physical and emotional empowerment while she helped with the spiritual empowerment. I discussed the issue with her, and she agreed. My girlfriend visited me the next day and decided to spend the night at my place. At midnight, she woke me up. She told me that she felt I could do it alone without forming a partnership with her. She said that after we discussed the issue, she got the instruction to simply direct me on how to modify my spiritual life so I could start inspiring others. “Why wouldn’t you simply work work on your spirituality? Isn’t striving for virtue meant for everyone?” my girlfriend asked. Thus, we began to study the word of God together until that moment she believed I could do it on my own.

As the days went on, I gradually developed confidence as I became more inspired by the word of God. Then I knew that the spirituality challenge was gradually being lifted. However, I still wondered how I would motivate married women when I had no experience with the issues they were facing. As I meditated for days on how to achieve this, I also pleaded for divine direction while praying. One day, I went to a quiet place to read, and I suddenly found myself in a meditation that actually seemed like a trance to me. During that short while, this message suddenly came to my mind: “Just be Paul…his letters will tell you how.”

What did this actually mean? Later, I understood It meant that I should study the letters of St. Paul in the Bible. To be frank, not knowing whether it was addressed to Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, or another group altogether made it tough for me. It wasn’t an easy assignment, but I had no option. Hence, I began with the letter he wrote to the Romans. I studied it from its beginning to end, and from the insights I gained, I was unable to determine the how. Then, I continued with the letter he wrote to the Corinthians, and I still was unable to find my answers. I finally arrived at 1st Corinthians 2:4–5; it was this passage that completely gave me the answer to the question of how I would empower married women.

“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.”

As soon as I read this passage, my self-esteem suddenly went up. Now, I don’t just motivate married women with my own human intelligence or wisdom. From that day on, I became very happy and confident because my empowerment didn’t rely on my own intelligence or strength to inspire women, but through God’s wisdom and inspiration.
