Honoring the Messy & Beautiful Process of Death: Suzie Daggett on the Your Messy Brilliance® Show

Death and dying is a vulnerable subject, especially given our society’s complex relationship with grief. That’s why I feel fortunate for the transparent and uplifting conversation I had with writer and speaker, Suzie Daggett, who is our Featured Truthteller on the latest installment of the Your Messy Brilliance® Show!

Suzie lives and works intuitively and is keen on sharing her life’s heart and soul with the world. A former publisher, she created and produced the Insight Healthy Living Directory and produced Insight Lectures, featuring national new thought teachers. She is a newspaper columnist and was a TV and radio host who interviewed many influential speakers and healers. You can learn more about Suzie at www.suziedaggett.com.

Suzie’s latest book,The Pink Door: Mom’s Journey to the Other Side, shares her moving story about her mother’s passage from life to death. The book also talks candidly about how Suzie got through her process of grieving while helping her dying mother; it’s part journal, part narrative, and part guide for people who might not be prepared for what they will have to deal with when helping a loved one move through this huge transition.

If you’ve ever been a reluctant caregiver, you’ll love this conversation. Suzie reveals how we can experience grace by accepting the messiness of death, and how simply slowing down and being available to the entire experience can transform us. According to Suzie, her process entailed learning to let her mother die on her own terms. Suzie also discovered four principles that enabled her to be a stronger support to her mom—love, honor, permission, and forgiveness—and to connect with the sacred energy of death.

Her book and words offer hope and encouragement for anyone who is dealing with a loved one’s death. In her own words, Suzie wants to help others manage the situation with courage, strength, and love. And from her firsthand experience, “There is a beautiful energy that supports all of us, here and on the other side.”

Form Suzie Daggett: Gems among many that touched me to the core: Forgiveness of a person’s Soul (not their personality or ‘what they did to me’) and The Permission to Leave the Universe.

Bravo Suzie (and Kelly) for such inspiration and guidance.
